Parenting Topic: Lying to Your Babysitter

 In Blog

From Eric Rowe, Executive Producer, Roula & Ryan, KRBE/Houston

This article from The Stir, Little White Lies Moms Tell Their Babysitters, lists lies Moms and Dads tell the babysitter in order to get some freedom from the kids, and a good sitter.

For example: “The baby will go right down for a nap, no problem,” knowing damn well that the child hates naps and will fight naps to the death. Upon returning home, when the babysitter tells you that junior wouldn’t nap and she tried everything, you feign surprise and pretend that it’s the first time that this has happened, ever!

Set Up Ideas:

  • Ask your listeners: What are some little white lies you tell your babysitter about your kids?
  • Flip the topic and ask babysitters what lies they have told parents.
  • Talk to babysitters and let them vent about parents they worked for or about the kids they were babysitting.
