Anna Schiferl hadn’t even rolled out of bed when she reached for her cell phone and typed a text to her mom, one recent Saturday. Mom was right downstairs in the kitchen. The text? Anna wanted cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

Set Up Ideas:

• Do you text message your kid when you’re both in the house?

• Tie in a player on the show that has a teenager. Make them stop texting their teenager for a week and see what happens. 

• Do you put limits on text messaging with your kids to encourage face-to-face or phone conversations?

• Hearing your teenager’s voice could alert you that he or she is up to no good. Ask teens: “What do you get away with by texting instead of calling?”
